Our Story
RestWing didn't start in a lab. It started in the backseat of a car on a long drive from Vegas to LA — and a simple question: why doesn't anything work?
The Origin
Two years ago, RestWing founder Aaditya Gulati was a passenger on a drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. He tried the window, the armrest, even his backpack — nothing worked. He couldn't get comfortable, and he noticed his friends struggled with the exact same thing every single trip.
That frustration became a question, and that question became RestWing — a clip-on ergonomic headrest attachment that provides the lateral support no travel pillow has ever offered.
"What makes RestWing different is that it's totally bendable — you can shape it exactly how you want instead of being stuck with one position."
— Test UserEngineering
RestWing is built from a 3D printed clamp mechanism, brass and steel gooseneck supports, memory foam contact wings, and elastic bands. Every material was chosen after extensive testing to find the right balance where the device is flexible enough to bend into position, yet strong enough to hold its shape throughout the ride.
The team partnered with Invento Design Engineering at UCI's Beall Applied Innovation Center to bring the prototype closer to manufacturing readiness, while working with an Orange County based manufacturer to prepare for launch.
